How do you look at this pandemic situation? Well, there are two ways: positive or negative.

Negatively, you might look at this situation as a force that drags you down. It takes you away from your dreams and aspirations. It hinders you from reaching your full potential.

Positively, however, you may look at it as an opportunity to become all that you can be. Why? Because now you have the chance to look at things with a new perspective! You are no longer bound by the old routines. Instead, you can explore new possibilities.

Your perspective determines your actions, so taking a positive view is essential. Having a positive view will push you to take positive actions with a positive attitude. You can then go through this situation not just surviving but thriving.

How exactly should you view this situation then?

Well, I believe that you should view it as an opportunity to reinvent yourself. View it as your chance to do something new that will take your life to the next level.

Here are some tips on how to reinvent yourself.

1. Identify your core skills.

Reinventing yourself means taking a new direction. Most likely though, it will be based on the foundation that you have built before. One such foundation is your core skills.

I use the term core to emphasize that you need to look beneath the surface. For instance, you might think that your skill is writing articles but your core skill may actually be connecting different ideas and communicating them.

Looking beneath the surface helps you repackage your core skills in a new way. Using the example above, writing articles is just one way to express your core skills. You may find other ways.

2. Imagine new possibilities.

Having identified your core skills, you can then imagine new possibilities. How can you use your core skills to provide value to people in a new way? Be creative in your imagination. Don’t let negative voices hinder it. Let it go to unexpected directions.

3. Build a passion for learning.

Along with imagining new possibilities, you need to build a passion for learning. Why? Because reinventing yourself requires you to learn new things along the way. If you make it a burden, you wouldn’t go far. So make it a joy instead.

4. Experiment.

What should you do with the new possibilities that come to your mind? Experiment with them! Do some research. Make side projects. Use the iteration method so that you can adjust yourself quickly. This is how you can find the direction that’s most promising to you.

5. Be resourceful.

Like it or not, there will be difficulties along the way. Rather than avoiding them, expect them and be prepared. The key here is to be resourceful. I love the dictionary definition of resourceful: “having the ability to find quick and clever ways to overcome difficulties.”

6. Take time to reflect.

Going in a new direction isn’t easy. There are pitfalls along the way. If you aren’t careful, you could pursue one thing at the expense of other more meaningful things in your life.

That’s why it’s essential that you take time to reflect on your life. It could be in the form of prayer, journaling, or something else. The important thing is that you take time to reconnect with your deepest values.
